I find the blogosphere amazing and the ‘void’ that people talk about intrigues me.

When you look in one direction you see familiarity and in the other you see the unknown.  Which direction will you travel?  Will you travel with me through an unknown entity? Will you take the chance or will you go back to familiarity.  There’s so much out there it would be a shame to miss something.  I am often delving into area’s of the unknown and here is my chance to lead you with a familiar hand into a world of something different.

As part of the Daisy Lemma’s Riff, I give you the next chapter…….

The bells rang in the far out distance, I felt the cold shadow embracing my shoulders like a lost forgotten embrace and the chills ran up and down my spine.  Unwanted kisses lingering too long.  “Move your feet” those words came from a determined chin and clenched teeth.  “Damn it, Move”.

With a twisted hook, I pushed the life into my barely there toes and reached both hands down behind me.  What a time to fall over, somewhere far behind ‘it’ was searching, I could hear the call, I could smell the baited breath breathing, drawing ever closer in the dim facetted light behind me.

The closed door with the shafts of light echoed beyond the murmurings of strangers, countless blank smooth faces with no definition.  A trick of the light maybe! Too much vodka in my soda, possibly! Who knows? But every one of those haunting faces just pale fluorescent shadows of an inner secret, screaming into my soul “We know you, we know your secret”

I just had to get out of there, the enchanted memories, the token encounters, the familiar scenery, the smells just all pull me into something I can’t quite piece together.  What is ‘it’ that haunts my waking moments, lulls in my nightmares and evades my dreams?

The large panelled door with a familiar engraving was an exit to my torment as I made my way through the sea of unfamiliarity and rose against my inner wave of guilt.  I traced my fingers across the outline of an elephant, the eyes deep and sad, triggering pieces of my fragmented mentality, rummaging through what was left of the icy shards of my memories.  It had to be here, it just had to be.

I leant against it, teasing the handle behind me still untrusting of those strangers, that mocking laughter, the faces.  Oh the faces, the undefined faces caught in a loop of time, the knowing, the provocation – it was searing through me and I needed to escape.  As I twisted the handle I heard the click, a few twitches in the crowds meant they heard it too but the draw of the music and the endless time kept them phased just between their reality and mine.

I slithered backwards and sidled in between the cold wood and the frame, the coolness of the air caught my breath and the faint dewiness of lemon tainted the edges of my mouth.  A fingertip touch, a velvety caress slowed my breath as it encased my lips.   My eyes naturally responded and closed “Have you seen this?”

The words erupted through me, jolting me into the fact I was not alone.

“I’ve been waiting for you”
